During this project, we had to program a game to display. I was very scared to do this project at first because I was not comfortable with programming at all. So, I used my knowledge from Star Logo Nova. Although I made my game in Scratch, it was still helpful. After I had my game made, I had to figure out the probability involved with shooting the animal I had created.
This project was split up into a lot of different benchmarks. The first benchmark was just a brain storming sheet you created with a partner. During this time, I thought I was going to be making checkers with a partner. My partner was absent one day and I decided to create a shooter game by myself. Benchmark #5 was the creation of the game. This was where my game changed a lot. At first I started with shooting reindeer but there was no probability. I was struggling even though I went in for help multiple times but, when I realized I could randomly place the animal I could put a randomness and probability in. After tons of programming and deleting code and replacing it, I figured out my game.
The way the game works is that the target follows the mouse pointer and the space bar is the button to shoot. There are a certain amount of dragons that "fly" around the screen and the way they fly is random and you have to shoot the dragons down. The project was to program a game that had a form of randomness in it. The randomness in my game is the dragons flying around. To reflect on this project I enjoyed the process of creating this game and I enjoyed learning how to program my game.
