Essential Question
The skills that are needed for me to succeed include in college, and the Army include, communication skills, teamwork skills, adaptability skills, critical observation skills, and conflict resolution. I can find my communication skills in my temporal lobe, I can develop this part of my brain by taking communication classes. This would help me because I would learn how to speak with confidence. The next thing I need to develop is my teamwork skills, this part of my brain would be in my cerebellum, I could improve this by taking business administration classes. This would help me because I would learn how to run a business and work with others to be successful. Next I would be needing to improve my adaptability skills, I could do this by improving my parietal lobe by taking a psychology class. This would help me because I would learn better ways to adapt to new things. The next skill I want to improve would be my critical observation skills, this would be in my occipital lobe, I could improve this by taking a photography class. This class would help me because I would be observing everything and anything if I was taking photos all the time. The final skill I want to improve would be conflict resolution, this would be in the temporal lobe, I could improve this also by taking a peace and conflict studies class. This would help because I would understand conflict more and how to resolve it. I think that I could accomplish all of those things in college to be ready for the Army right after. I want to take ROTC classes in college and then major in peace and conflict studies.

University of Colorado is my dream school, and they offer ROTC classes and the major I want to study which would be Peace and Conflict studies. The acceptance rate is 84%, the average GPA is 3.59, the average SAT is 1252, and the average ACT is 23, so I do feel it would be harder to get into this school, with my GPA.
|
Humboldt State University is my fit school, because I think that the area it is in, and the fact that they offer ROTC and peace and conflict studies, I think it would be a great fit. The acceptance rate is 76%, the average GPA is 3.21, the average SAT is 1115, and the average ACT is 22. My GPA matches up perfectly with the average here, and I do feel I can get above an 1100, so that is why this school is my fit.
|
Finally, California State University Chico, is my Reach school only because the acceptance rate is very low at 71%, the average GPA is 3.28, the average SAT is 1111, and the average ACT is 21. This is my safety school, because my GPA is higher than the averages, and my SAT and ACT scores I know will be higher.

Interview
For my interview I interviewed my cousin, who graduated from Palomar with 3 degrees in 3 years to become a teacher. The first question I asked i'm was, “did you learn any study habits in college that really benefited you?”, he replied with, “yes, I learned how to organize and set aside my time to study to actually learn the material, rather than just remember it for the test. It’s a lot easier when you’re actually interested in the topic.”. The next question I asked him was If there was one thing you would do different when applying to colleges what would you do?”, he replied with, “I would have applied to more just to see, I didn’t apply to very many because I thought I wouldn’t get in.”. The final question I asked was “what’s something you wish someone had told you going into college?”, he replied with, “don’t take 8 am classes, talk to your counselor more often, and don’t stress out because everything will work out.”. I am very glad I talked to him about college because he gave me some advice I will never forget.
10 Year Plan
1. Junior year of high school I will be finishing off with my internship and I will be finishing off 11th grade with all A’s and I will be working as much as possible.
2. Senior Year I will be working as hard as I can to get all A’s, I will also be taking as many Palomar classes as I can and be getting as many credits as I can in my general ed courses so I am prepared for college, and I will apply to a lot of colleges and get in as many as I can and have a fun year.
3. Freshman year of college I will be taking ROTC classes and I will be doing basic course work, I will also be taking my general ed classes at humboldt and I will be trying to complete it so I can focus on my major which will be peace and conflict studies and my ROTC classes.
4. Sophomore year of college I will still be taking ROTC classes and be focused on learning the role of an army officer, I really want to focus on my major this year above all in peace and conflict studies, and I also want to continue on with my ROTC classes.
5. Junior year of college I will be taking ROTC and will be focusing on Advanced Courses, this is where I will contract with the Army to continue in the program, at this point I will be done with general ed and I will have a job outside of school so I can make money.
6. Senior Year I will be assigned a cadet battalion staff position I will be responsible for evaluating third-year cadets, and planning and coordinating training operations and missions. At this point I want to mainly focus on ROTC because the year after I will be going into the army.
7. Once I graduate college I will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. I will focus on nothing but the army and be very committed.
8. I then will be taking a Basic Officers Leaders Course. I take 3 of these courses and I can be an infantry officer.
9. I will then be an Infantry officer and be active duty and I will go to my first duty station for 2 or 3 years where I will be a platoon leader for up to 2 years.
10. 18 months after starting active duty, I will be promoted to first lieutenant.
11. At 4 years beyond commissioning I will be promotable to captain.
12. Once reaching Captain, I will have the opportunity to attend Captains Career Course in my course and may even have the opportunity to change jobs.
